Every year we host a Careers Carousel where we invite employers and further education providers into the school to showcase the career pathways they offer and inspire our students to think about their future career options.

The aim of the day is to provide meaningful encounters for students to engage with Employers, Apprenticeship providers, Colleges and Further Education providers. 

Our 2023 Careers Carousel took place on Thursday 5th October. With a mix of employers and educational institutions in attendance, the school Hall was full to the brim with talk of careers and future prospects. To name a few of the employers in attendance there was; Weston Homes, Quantum Care Home, Nockolds Solicitors, Price Bailey Accountants, Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, the RAF and Hertfordshire Police.

This year we had three colleges in too to give information to our students about further, technical and vocational educational courses. Stansted Airport College, Capel Manor College and Hertford Regional College came to speak with our students. We also had two universities present this year enabling our students to look ahead and start planning their career journey; the University of Hertfordshire and Writtle University College.

Each year group with the exception of Year 7 (who were invited to come to the carousel in their break / lunchtime) had an allocated time slot to visit the exhibitors. Students and Teaching staff were briefed before hand and students entered the hall with their carousel booklets in hand. 

The buzz of career talk once again filled the air as students went to each exhibitor to see what career opportunities they had.

At the end of the day when the last of the stalls were being packed away, a sense of calm descended on the Hall once again. A huge amount of information had been shared throughout the day, and it felt like it had made a real difference to some students. The feedback we received from the exhibitors was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the feedback from the students who gained much knowledge into career industries they had never thought of exploring before.
